I am currently managing a product development group in a small technology company in the US’s northeast. I have managed many programs over the past 25 years, going back to when EV was called BCWP, both with domestic and foreign customers, on the military and commercial sides. My background is electrical engineering and I still carry out engineering level tasks as I love hands on work. After all these years, becoming a PMP seemed to be a good way to capitalize on my experience while adding some of the fundamentals that I had not been exposed to formally.

I began my studies for the PMP certification in September 2014 when I began a project management course at the University of Toronto. As that course came to a close, I found that certain concepts were challenging for me. As a result, I decided to obtain additional PMP exam materials. Ultimately, I earned my PMP certification on April 14, 2015 and passed the exam on my first attempt. I found the PM PrepCast to be an excellent resource - I watched several of the lectures multiple times to better understand the material. In addition, I also found the OSP International PM Exam Simulator to be an outstanding product (and a great supplement to the PM PrepCast for the serious student. My background is in risk management and vendor management at one of Canada's largest companies, the Bank of Montreal.

I graduated with an BS in Accounting, worked in Public Accounting 2 years and Internal Audit 8 years obtaining my certified internal audit designation CIA. Internal Audit exposed me to our entire organization. As such, I began being placed on larger and more strategic projects.
Over the last 15 years my job was supervising a business systems team where I facilitated many projects. I often thought about obtaining my PMP. This past year our Health Insurance Plan merged with a much larger Insurance Plan. Prior to the merger I thought it would be a great time to upgrade my resume and obtain my PMP to go along with my CIA.
Thanks to the PM PrepCast I had it prior to becoming part of the new company.
I'm a project manager for an international manufacturing company and I work with everything from product design, procurement, supply chain, and customer relations.
To be honest, my goal in starting the PMP process was to find an inexpensive way to get my certification. In that search I found the PrePCast and I listened to the PM Prepcast on the way to and from work and read through the PMBOK. Then I used the OSP exam simulator for a couple weeks before taking the exam.
During the last week before the exam, I would recommend being familiar with your brain dump and the integrated change control processes since many questions tie back to this in one way or another.

I would recommend that a student take at least 1200-1400 questions in the PrepCast website and in the final week review every question that was missed and the reasons why it was missed. This is the process that connected all of the dots for me. If you can answer these questions correctly you can pass the real exam.

I'm currently working as an IT Project Manager in CRM/ERP domain for Averda International, a leading environmental services company based out of Dubai,UAE. In July, 2004 after completing engineering, I worked as an IT consultant in UK & India for about 6 years. In 2010,
I decided to take a break and enhance by business knowledge, hence I quit job and completed full time MBA from Cranfield University, UK. Post MBA, I relocated to UAE from UK and I joined Averda and since then I had managed several projects in CRM domain that had helped provide a competitive edge to my organization. Apart from PMP, I'm also OCP and ITIL certified.
I'm a project manager in communications, consulting/outsourcing with an additional background in healthcare and higher education. Obtaining my PMP was a sought after milestone which undoubtedly will continue to open doors. Representing the discipline of project management with the backing of a PMP is truly an honor.
I am also currently pursuing my MBA and looking forward to graduating in early 2016. Approaching both courses of study in a parallel path fashion has been exciting and helpful in applying the knowledge in the real world almost immediately.
I am a working PM in healthcare IT running implementation, migration, and optimization projects of electronic Medical Record HW and SW. I have a Masters in Managing Information Systems with a concentration in Health Informations.
The first thing I read was the PMBOK which basically ended after chapter 1. At that time I purchased “How to Pass your PMP on your First Time” and read this book hand in hand with the PMBOK each day. At the end of my studying two weeks before my exam I took practice tests with HeadFirst, Velociteach, and other resources. I was getting great scores (not timed) so I thought I was ready. I kept looking online and in book stores for more exams and would take them until finally I came across the PMP Exam Simulator and failed on my first full length test.
