What are the differences between what-if scenario analysis and simulation during the Develop Schedule process?

What-if scenarios is a "questioning" technique, e.g., what if scenario X happens, then how many days should I add?
Simulation is more complex since it is computer generated scenarios where you can add data to assess various outcomes. It is usually used in risk management.
