Our Website got Attacked Today!

At about 13:00 UTC today all our web-servers crashed due to a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack on the website. This attack (by an unknown group of hackers) caused the maximum allowed users to spike beyond what the system could handle. All three servers crashed and the message "Service Unavailable" was displayed.

We contacted our hosting company via phone right away and worked with them to restore the service. Now it was determined that it wasn't just the webservers that went down but unfortunately, the crash snowballed and took down the database servers as well.

Website service was restored again around 16:15 UTC.

We apologize for any inconvenience this attack may have caused you.

1. Why for Scope, Schedule and Cost there no process available to defined the Management plans, where all other knowledge areas, there are process, which results the respective management plan. Can you explain, how in the Develop Project management plan process we define these 3 management plans.

2. In Scope management knowledge area, do the organization culture and other factors do not play any role. If they then, we do not use Enterprise environmental factors in this KA, why.

Prasad,

Unfortunately I don't have the answers to your questions.

This is something that only those people know who wrote the new version of the PMBOK Guide wrote. I was wondering exactly the same things as I read the new PMBOK Guide. This is just one of those moments when all you can do is "shrug your shoulders and move on".

I know that this is certainly not a satisfactory answer but it's the best that I can do.
