Hello everyone!
I'm working on the application for the PMP exam and I would be very grateful if you could provide me with any suggestions/recommendations to further improve the description of my PM experiences over the last few years. I work as a grants manager in a small company affiliated to a university (so most often we work on research projects and proposals for grants funding). Your feedback will be highly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance for your help. Kind regards, Gabriella I put my comments below in italics. Project 1 [The project has already initiated when I started working on it] PL: 450 h. EX: 630 h. MC: 415 h. CL: 165 h Objective: To develop a Decision Support System (DSS) for fresh food inventory management and logistics optimization. Role: I planned the project by (PL) defining scope and collecting requirements. EX: I managed project knowledge through meetings and workshops. Negotiated with stakeholders to foster their involvement. MC: I controlled quality through testing and product evaluation. CL: Distributed final project report. Documented project closure. Outcome: DSS implemented and approved by the customer. Project 2 IN: 150 h. PL: 440 h. EX: 520 h. MC: 370 h. Obj.: To develop e-services for tourism mobility between Italy and Greece. Role: I managed the whole project. IN: Developed project charter. Performed stakeholder and benefit analysis. PL: Created WBS. Developed budget, schedule & procurement plans. EX: Managed task execution and stakeholder relationships. MC: Monitored and managed changes (part. cost and schedule). [Project ongoing] Deliverables and outcomes: Interim reports submitted and approved by sponsor. Preliminary design of the e-services discussed with key stakeholders. Project 3 IN: 40 h. PL: 90 h. EX: 130 h. MC: 75 h. CL: 35 h. Obj.: To submit a research proposal for a call sponsored by the European Commission (EC). Role: I managed the whole project. IN: Developed project charter; identified key stakeholders & potential partners. PL: PM plan for the proposal preparation. EX: Partnership creation. Managed and coordinated team during proposal preparation. MC: Controlled scope and quality with respect to call requirements. CL: Lessons learned after proposal was not awarded. Outcome: Research proposal submitted to EC. Project 4 IN: 30 h. PL: 80 h. EX: 70 h. MC: 70 h. CL: 30 h. Objective: To submit a proposal for a call sponsored by the European Regional Development Fund. Role: I managed the whole project. IN: Developed charter. PL: Detailed assessment of requirements and constraints. Proposal planning, incl. resources, schedule and cost mgmt. EX: Proposal preparation, including cost, schedule and resource mgmt. >> I understand this might be misleading. What I mean here is that I worked on the cost, schedule and resource mgmt plan to be followed if the proposal is awarded. These plans have been included as part of the proposal preparation. Would it be better to further explain this? MC: Controlled scope and quality with respect to call requirements. CL: Obtained final acceptance of project proposal. Archived project documents and materials. Outcome: Proposal successfully submitted. Project 5 >> This is actually Stage 2 of project 4. In fact, the proposal submitted as outcome of Project 4 has been awarded, resulting in this project. I've been thinking to merge the two, and present them as a single project. However, there have been about nine months between the proposal submission and the notification of award, so I decided to keep them separate. What do you think about this? IN: 115 h. PL: 340 h. EX: 400 h. MC: 285 h. Objective: To develop smart digital services for competitiveness of tourism entrepreneurs. Role: I managed the whole project. IN: Developed charter. Performed benefit analysis. PL: Created WBS. Documented schedule, cost, communications, and stakeholder mgmt. plans. EX: Managed project work and team. Managed communications following the PM plan. MC: Monitored schedule & costs. [Project ongoing] Deliverables and outcomes: Competitiveness assessment for tourism sector at local level. Interim reports submitted and approved by sponsor. |
