There is a question in PMP Exam Simulator, asking in which process group do you implement approved change requests.
The explanation state that there are three processes that have approved change request as inputs, but only in one of them (Direct and Manage Project Work) the implementation takes place. In two remaining processes (Control Quality, Control Procurement) you only verify that changes were properly implemented.
According to the PMBOK, all the Approved Change Requests are implemented by the project team in the Direct and Manage Project Work process. But on page 496, it mentions Approved Change Requests as input to the Control Procurements process and it says "All procurement- related changes are formally documented in writing and approved before BEING IMPLEMENTED THROUGH THE CONTROL PROCUREMENTS PROCESS".
So, the question is, if the change request will be about changing the SOW or terms and conditions of the contract, where will the implementation take place – in Direct and Manage Project Work or in Control Procurement?

Hi Julia,

The Approved Changed Requests can be an input to the following processes: Direct and Manage Work, Control Quality, and Control Procurements.

The short answer is that it depends on the nature of the change request. For example, if it is a change to the SOW, then it goes to Control Procurements.

Pg 93, 301, 496 in the PMBOK 6 has the details of the input descriptions.

So, is it correct to assume that all Approved Change Requests will be implemented in the Direct and Manage Project Work process, except from the Approved procurement- related changes which will be implemented in the Control Procurements process? Or is this an error in the PMBOK?
Thanks,
Julia
