I am very anxious and nervous that my application would either be audited or sent back for revisions due to the project description. Therefore, I would be greatly appreciated if anyone can quickly review the three project descriptions I have written below. Any comments would help. Thank you!

PROJECT #1:
Objective: to lead and manage subcontractors from project initiation to closing of a ground up construction building
IN: Identified stakeholders; created measurable objectives
PL: Defined scope; led cross-functional plan meetings
EX: Managed resources and communications; execute work according to the PM plan
MC: measured performance against baseline; updated risk register
CL: obtained acceptance on deliverables; indexed and archived records
Outcome: building is constructed and subcontractors closed out and gained acceptance from client

PROJECT #2:
Objective: to lead design assist and develop engineering shop drawings
IN: Created measurable objectives; determined company existing systems
PL: Defined scope; created WBS; developed scope management plan
EX: directed and managed project work; managed project team
MC: validated and controlled scope and risks
CL: obtained acceptance on deliverables; close project phase
Outcome: completed design assist and shop drawings were issued for construction

PROJECT #3:
Objective: to lead and manage installation of curtain walls
IN: Created measurable objectives; identified stakeholders
PL: Defined project scope by producing project scope statement, created WBS, scope baseline, defined activities, and developed schedule
EX: directed and managed project work; created project deliverables
MC: monitored and controlled project work including cost, time, risks.
CL: closed project by acceptance; documented lessons learned
Outcome: curtain walls were installed and documents were compiled

Raymond,

A quick glance reveals that your project descriptions are rather vague; its hard for me as an outside observer to really tell what you did in your role as a project manager. Take a careful look at the PMP exam requirements to make sure you meet the stringent time and education requirements, as well as the project management experience you need to be able to prove in order to survive a potential audit. More details!

Steve - thank you for your respond and i agree with your comments. However, shouldn't the project description be high-level since there's a character limit.
I've been managing construction projects from the general contractor and subcontractor side and it would not be a problem to provide more details. I'll see what and how I can revise my project descriptions to be more concise while being within the character limit. If you have any advise that would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Raymond

Hi there,

I have completed a description this evening and wondering if I am on right track.

I used all 550 characters:

Goal of this project - Reinstate Management Co. for 300 residents.

I worked as a Project Leader.

In this project I took care of, including but not limited to :

IN: Identified stakeholders affected by co. being struck off

PL:
Defined scope
Conducted kick off meetings
Created WBS
Make or Buy Analysis
Planned cost management

EX:
Procured new suppliers
Executed project plan focused on communications & conflict resolution

MC:
Managed changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs
Controlled legal risks

CL:
Archived project documents

Co. legally registered again

I would be delighted to receive any feedback.

Thanks in advance!

Raymond,

Were you not required to assign hours to each section of your description? I am taking PMP boot camp next week but really struggling with documentation of hours.

Thank you!
Jill
