Hi,

I think I can rephrase it like below:-

Free Float = ES of Following - ES of Present - DUR of Present
as

Free Float = ES of Following - EF of Present
as [ ES of Present + DUR of Present ] = EF of Present

What do you think ?

Hi Subhajit,

Free float is the amount of time that an activity can be delayed without delaying the Early Start of its successor activity.

and Yes if we do some formula substitutions, your formula will prove valid.

however i think the original formula which is :

Free Float = ES of Following - EF of Present

is easier to memorize as it maps to the definition perfectly.

Subhajit, in general I highly recommend memorizing the formulas as they are in the PMBOK. The entire study regimen for the exam is based on a logical progression of a methodology. This includes the consistency of the formulas as you find them in the various study guides.
