TOPIC: PMI Membership and Official Prep Course, Is It Worth the Cost?

Hi everyone,

I'm just getting started with my PMP journey and am trying to decide whether a PMI membership is worth purchasing.

I know it provides a discount on the exam, but are there other benefits you've found genuinely useful? Things like learning resources, networking, templates, webinars, or anything else that made the membership worthwhile?

I'm also considering PMI's official PMP Exam Prep course, but the price is pretty steep. For those who've taken it, did you feel it was worth the investment, or would you recommend less expensive alternatives that provide similar (or better) preparation?

Since I'm still at the beginning of my studies, I'd also appreciate any recommendations for prep courses, boot camps, or study resources that helped you pass the exam.

I feel as though the learning resources and networking are two of the most beneficial things the PMI membership affords. As a project Managers our job growth, and in some cases security, is built through our relationships with stakeholders and project sponsors. PMI puts like minded project focused individuals in one centralized area for networking, mentoring, etc.

As far as PMP Test Preparation goes, I personally used PMP Prepcast as my primary testing resource. I felt it gave a robust amount of testing examples and quizzes, and the format of the questions and answers closely mimicked that of the actual exam. There are also a ton of video resources online in youtube that worked great for me as well!

I tried their prep course and I didn't care for it. I ended up just going to PrepCast. As for a suggestion, the Mathis Group is so confident you will pass with their course that they will pay for your test if you fail.
