I cannot speak for PMI accreditation, but I belong to another professional society that approves majors and I have found no difference between non-approved and approved curriculum nor knowledge/quality of individuals graduating from their respective approved/not-approved program.
Thinking about doing my master’s in Australia and noticed UTS has a PMI-accredited project management course. It looks decent, but I’m also eyeing UNSW’s engineering science (project management) program. That one’s ranked higher but costs a lot more.
Just wondering if the PMI accreditation actually gives you an edge in the job market or with certifications. Or is it more of a nice label that doesn’t matter much once you’re working?
Would appreciate any honest takes. Trying not to sink money into something that won’t move the needle.
