Ok, wow; where should I start here?!
Well,
First, what do you mean by "Crash Course"? Can you elaborate? I am asking because there is nothing like a "crash course" or a shortcut to PMP. Anyone who promises something like that "lies", sorry.
Second, what do you mean by the "new test"?
I guess you are referring to the new PMBoK Guide Edition here, right?
Well, the Test is NOT based on the PMBoK Guide but on the PMP Exam Content Outline; therefore, a new PMBoK Guide Edition does not mean a new test, and even if some aspects need to be incorporated into the Question Pool, PMI will do so on an ongoing basis.
Or you are referring to the rumors about an also coming new PMP Exam Content Outline?!
I have read that several times now, but no one has been able to provide an official source for that statement, and the reason is that there is no official statement about a new ECO, at least not yet.
And even if a new ECO is introduced with the new PMBoK Guide (or sometime later), the same applies as before: changes to the exam might be incorporated over time, and it is less likely that there will be a specific date for a new test.
From my perspective, the only thing you can really do is prepare as best as you can, gain confidence, and then go for it.
In my opinion, I would recommend doing so before the new PMBoK guide is released, if possible.
And thirdly, my strong recommendation would be to become a PMI Member - at least for one year - cause the savings you will get regarding the Exam Fee is already more than the Member Fee for the first year.
As a Member, you receive even more value, including the ability to download all the Standards and Publications, as well as additional benefits.
And if you really need to buy a paperback version (I would not recommend, but anyway), than I would say, wait for the new 8th Edition, that will be released soon.
However, this one alone will cost nearly $100, which is almost equal to the member fee.
And by the way, as a member, you can purchase the paperback version in the PMI shop and get it at a significantly lower price there.
Just my 2 Cents ...
