I’m wondering if I should post that “I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification…” thing in my page. Is this a good channel to grow my network? Or will they want someone with more experience compared to someone who just got their certification?

Hi Anthony,

Absolutely post it! Announcing your certification is one of the best ways to build visibility on LinkedIn. It shows commitment, achievement, and readiness to engage with the community.

And don’t overthink the “experience” angle. Yes, the PMP already reflects significant project management experience – it’s built into the application process.
But honestly, most HR people don’t know or care about those requirements. They just see “globally recognized certification” on your profile. And if someone does know what it means,
even better – you just earned extra credibility.

My tip: frame your post around what the journey taught you, not just the badge. Invite others to share their own paths, which will spark real engagement. And keep it authentic,
because people connect more with a story than with a title.

So yes, use LinkedIn to grow your network. The certificate isn’t the end – it’s the perfect conversation starter.

Anthony,

Certainly post wins, especially wins that are this big.

I don't know if it will "grow your network" but it will announce to your current network that you've hit a professional goal and have been recognized for it.

Congratulations!

Hi Anthony,
For sure, post on LinkedIn, to add visibility to your achievement. It may not help you grow your network, but will be a strong signal that you are committed to achieving excellence in the area of PM.

If you want to grow your network, I would suggest becoming an active member of PMI and attending events/ volunteering in your local chapters if possible.

Anthony,

LinkedIn is widely recognized as one of the best places to display who you are in the professional world. Many jobs I have applied to have specifically asked me for my LinkedIn profile.

It cost nothing to post it on there and it helps your current network celebrate your achievement. Also, LinkedIn usually asks you to provide proof you obtained the certification, adding credibility. There's no reason not to post it.
