Hi James -

One of my colleagues at the International Institute of Learning (IIL), named Mark Langosco, wrote an article titled 'AI-Powered PMP Exam Simulator: A New Era in Project Management Certification Preparation. I haven't tried this myself, but it may be worth checking out.

HI James,

I totally understand where you are coming from as financial concerns plagued me during my journey as well. I want to start by saying as it relates to study program's and sample exams you ultimately get what you pay for. What i mean by this is that you can find tons of free testing resources and exam prep sites but its no guarantee the information and the way its distributed will be efficient in your goals of achieving a PMP.

For low cost the most influential resource i utilized was you tube. With the rise of Chat GPT and its new study Prompt that may also be a valuable resource for limited overhead. To my counterpart point below i found my most value by using Prepcast PMP simulator. It honestly was my primary studying tool outside of youtube and the textbook itself. Hope this helps and good luck on your journey.

Hi James -

Great question! As a PMI Member, you can download for free the following publications as PDFs, and these will contain everything you need to know to pass the PMP Exam: PMBOK Guide 7th Edition, Process Groups: A Practice Guide and the Agile Practice Guide. Note: You must be a member of PMI Global ( www.pmi.org ) in order to download these publications.

Also, as previously mentioned by Harry, OSP International has the following free exam simulators with 7-Day Access: The PM-Prepcast PMP Exam Simulator , the PM-Prepcast CAPM Exam Simulator and the Agile PrepCast PMI-ACP Simulator. Note: These references are excellent, but are useless without a Study Plan. OSP International also has an article on Creating Your PMP® Study Plan - The Complete Guide.

Happy Studying!

James,

If by "low-cost or discounted" you mean "free" there are not too many resources out there that fit that bill. I found the material that OSP offers, (PrepCast course and the Exam Simulator) to be invaluable in my preparation.

All in all, I probably spent less than $1200 to prepare for the exam - which includes PMI membership (not required), exam and application fee, a hard copy of the PMBOK guide, the PrepCast Course and Exam Simulator (here) and few good prep books (Head First comes to mind) and a couple of less-than-worthless purchases that was supposed to help but were just badly written and presented.

If you want the goods, you have to pay the tariff.

I’m on a pretty limited budget at the moment. Just wondering if anyone can recommend solid yet affordable study materials like videos, notes, or anything that helped you prep.
