Hi all, I’m starting my PMP exam prep and already picked up the PMBOK Guide 7th edition. But I’ve been seeing mixed comments saying these might not match the current exam format well, and that the older 6th edition materials might actually be more useful?

I’ve gone through a few of the PrepCast lessons so far, and they’ve helped clarify a lot but I’m wondering if I should add anything else to make sure I’m fully covered.

Would love to hear what others used recently.

Eidriana:

The reference materials are contained in the Exam Content Outline (ECO) from PMI. The list is extensive. I would focus on PMBOK 6 and 7 (I hear the exam is now pretty heavily weighted to PMBOK 7). Also have a very good understanding of how Agile methods work.

I took the exam in 2019 and it was all PMBOK 6. My reference materials were a little more broad since I needed to have an understanding of the language of project management, which I found to be like learning a second language!

Good luck
