Hi James -

I often get the question, "What is the actual score I need to pass the PMP Exam? PMI could tell us, but they would have to ... Think Top Gun. :-) I have heard 62.5%, 65%, and 67%. So, how do you know when you are ready to sit for the actual exam? This is where the OSP International PMP Simulator comes in. I recommend taking a complete 3-hour and 50-minute, 180-question practice exam each weekend. When you take your first practice exam, you will fail miserably. I scored 37% correct on my first practice exam :-( But this is just a baseline. As you take more of these full 180-question practice exams, your score will continue to go up. When your score is 75% or higher on one of the OSP PMP Exam Simulator Practice Exams, you are ready to sit for the actual exam. I'm not sure which simulator you're using, but if it's not the OSP International PMI-ACP Simulator, the following link provides a 7-day free trial so you can view its functionality.

Hello,

The practice tests should tell you what the pass rate is for your score. 75% is actually very good. I passed with around 60-65% range. That gave me something like a 90% pass chance.

HI James, I would second what Harry said.
Signing up for the PMP exam is a significant investment of time and money, so you would want to be reasonably sure you will pass - once you consistently score >80% I would say you are good to go.

Hi James,

First i want to wish you the best of luck and success as you pursue (and obtain ;) ) your PMP Cert this year. I would have to agree with Harry in saying that there is no set score that you can get on a practice exam that will guarantee success. I have heard many say that testing in the high 70-80% range on quizzes and exams is a good sign you are ready for the real thing. That was the rule I abided by and was able to find success as well. I personally took a quiz a day (30 questions max) and would take a full exam on the weekend.

James,

There is no guaranteed "passing score" for the exam simulator as It relates to actual PMP exam. However, I think that scores in the 80% range indicate that you are well-prepared for the exam.

When I was preparing, I focused on weak topics and took only 3 or 4 full-length exams to prepare me for the real thing.

Good luck.

I just took a PMP practice exam and scored around 75%. Not bad, should I be confident if it means I’m ready? Should I keep doing full-length mock exams, or focus on specific topics now?

Really hoping to get certified this year.
