Dear PMP Exam Simulator users,

As you may (or may not) know, the new PMP exam questions are almost 100% scenario-based. Based on feedback from those who took the exam, there are no direct ITTO questions. Therefore, you may ask why we still have a whole exam, Exam 5, dedicated to ITTOs?

There are a few reasons.
  • First, while no memorization of ITTOs is required to answer the PMP exam questions correctly, understanding how the various ITTOs are used in different project management scenarios is required.
  • Second, the PMBOK® Guide, Sixth Edition, is still among the references used by PMI to support their questions. Since the PMBOK® Guide's structure heavily relies on the ITTOs, some students believe that memorizing ITTOs would benefit their preparations.
  • Third, students tell us that they feel better after practicing those questions as this reduces their anxiety and stress levels before the exam.
  • Finally, every time we remove the ITTO exam from our PMP Exam Simulator, we receive hundreds of requests from our customers to bring it back for various reasons.
Therefore, we have decided to keep the ITTO exam available and leave it up to the student to determine the benefit of practicing it.

Having said that, practicing the ITTO exam is not required. It is optional. Therefore, we have adjusted the exam name displayed to you in your simulator account. The exam name has been modified from PMP Exam 5 (ITTO) to PMP Exam 5 (ITTO Only: Optional). Also, we've added a dedicated clarification to the exam tips displayed to you when you start the ITTO exam. The clarification reads:
  • This is an optional exam. Exam 5 is comprised of ITTO questions only. The actual PMP exam does not have any questions that directly ask about ITTOs. Therefore, practicing this exam is optional.
We hope this clarifies the ITTO-related concerns you may have about the PMP exam in general and PMP Exam 5 (ITTO Only: Optional) in particular.
