Actually James...... Corn is right...there are question as such that throws you off the PMBOK so you have to think logically as to what it should be.
One has to think and understand question thoroughly. Study like a student but answer as professional :)

Hello James,

Thank you so much for drawing my attention to this. Even though we have a rigorous testing process before our sample questions go live, some things will slip through the cracks. That's why we also have an ongoing review and update process in place that kicks in when a misnomer like this one comes to light.

We're on it and will fix the question original.

But I'm going to intentionally leave the error untouched on this page here, so that those reading this in the future can now go back up, review the question a second time and go "Oh yes... James is right... That should indeed have been Process Group!"

Thank you again.

We spend a considerable time enforcing the principle that the process groups are not project phases. This is actually stated in bold letters on page 52 of the PMBOK Guide. Yet you write questions that refer to the process groups as phases. This is not only wrong but subverts the intentions of the PMBOK Guide and is extremely misleading to students.

Hello everyone! Here is this week's free PMP exam sample question from the PM Exam Simulator.

You are managing a construction project for a client and have subcontracted out some of the project work. You negotiated different contracts with the subcontractors, which include various activities and resources, such as site excavation, raw material supplies, and labor workforce. Each of these contract life cycles can end during which phase of your project life cycle?

A. The Closing phase of the project life cycle
B. The Executing phase of the project life cycle
C. The Monitoring and Controlling phase of the project
D. Each contract life cycle can end during any project life cycle phase

HINT: The life span of a contract life cycle depends upon the nature of the work involved not on the entire project work.

All our questions are updated to the latest PMBOK® Guide standard. Stop by at www.pm-prepcast.com/freesimulator and try the PMP Exam Simulator free for 3 days. We also offer 110 free questions at www.free-pm-exam-questions.com . We are a PMI Registered Education Provider.

Answer and Explanation:
The correct answer is D.

A complex project can involve managing multiple contracts or subcontracts simultaneously or in sequence. In such cases, each contract life cycle can end during any phase of the project life cycle. The buyer-seller relationship can exist at many levels on any one project and between organizations internal to and external to the acquiring organization.
