Good day. I am seeking some clarification.
I read in a book that of September 2019 that there are 3 types of questions on the CAPM exam:
Multiple choice with 1 correct answer
Multiple choice with multiple correct answers (they question will ask to identify the correct ones)
Matching items on one list against another
However I have not seen this anywhere on the PMI site to independently verify it , would you have any idea?

G'day Liza,

Sorry for the delay, however I cannot find anything yet, myself. I was hoping someone else did. Your request has been noticed, and I am still poking around. I just got my CAPM in 2018. I'll pop back if I find anything useful or another person who knows.

Hello Liza,

You are correct. On top of the regular multiple-choice questions with only one correct answer, there are two new question types:
1. Multiple correct choices
2. Matching drag-and-drop items

Here is the official announcement from the PMI:
www.pmi.org/update-center/certification-changes/capm

At this point, our CAPM exam simulator has only the "regular" multiple-choice questions with one correct answer. However, as I'm writing this message, we are working on adding the two new types to the simulator. This will be ready in the very near future (the exact date is under discussion).

I hope this helps.

G'day Stan,
I will also find this link very useful. I have however, gone back through the site menu, trying to see how to get to it from there. Can you please let me know which selections, if you know. Maybe I missed some other good info onsite.

Thank you very much,

Hello Liza-

How will this impact students who started studying the CAPM simulation this week. Will the simulations be changed to be more closer to the real exam for people who started reviewing the simulations this week?

Thanks,

Hi Linda,

Please accept my apologies for not being completely sure as to what exactly you are looking for. Assuming you want to know how to navigate to that page without having the direct URL, then here are the steps:
1. Go to the www.pmi.org/update-center
2. Click the Certification Changes tab
3. From the menu, select CAPM Exam - and there you go.

Hope this helps.

G'day Stan,
Thank you for the detailed response. My question is about how to get to the "update-centre" from the homepage (pmi.org). I was unable to find any direct menu link on the homepage. As opposed to using the direct link "pmi.org/update-centre".

This is a very useful link to help keep us informed, I am wondering if anyone would actually be able to "find" it, just perusing the site for useful info, or would they need to know this url specifically. In a nutshell, I am just concerned that this link is not as "visible" as it could be, or may need to be? Or maybe I am missing something.

Thanks so much for the quick response too.

Linda,

I have this URL bookmarked in my browser. I don't remember how I got there in the first place. You can go to the PMI website home page and type in "update center" in the search box. Oh, you can just ask PMI about that. After all, it's their website.

Debra,

As much as it pains me to say this: We don't have updated CAPM questions at this time, and we also cannot say when we will.

This is because PMI has been issuing change after change after change after change for nearly all of their exams over the past 12 months. The latest example is the fact that PMP students are suddenly reporting that they are now seeing 20-30 Agile questions on the PMP exam, even though PMI earlier stated that they would NOT be adding Agile to the exam in 2020. <sigh>. And that's just one of many examples...

Unfortunately, all these changes have simply overwhelmed us and our small team.

Our understanding is that you may come across the following:
- Multiple choice (select one)
- Multiple choice (select two, select three, select four)
- Drag & drop (for example, put do-check-plan-act into the right order)
- Fill in the blank (for example, ____ is the abbreviation for Work Breakdown Structure)
- Click into the appropriate area (for example, where on the project timeline is it MOST expensive to implement a change request)

Just to clarify, according to the current communication from the PMI, which I've provided a few posts above, the CAPM exam contains 3 types of questions (not 5):
1. "Standard" multiple choice questions with ONLY one correct answer.
2. Multiple responses questions with MORE than one correct answer.
3. Matching Drag-and-Drop questions.

For more details, please refer to the PMI website:
