To prepare for the PMP exam I:

Studied with a study buddy.
Studied for approximately 9 months, although only 4-5 were months when I was studying weekly or daily.
Read Rita Mulcahy's PMP Exam Prep guide twice: once thoroughly and the 2nd time for key points of weakness
Listened to PMPrepCast podcast, mostly the podcasts that reviewed the basics of each knowledge area.
Took 3 practice exams until I got 80% correct. Took notes on each question that I got wrong about why I got it wrong.
Wrote out the PMBOK process chart, Rita's process chart and equations as a brain dump every day for 2-3 weeks before the exam and at the beginning of the exam.

Achieved "Above Target" in all areas.
