I have many decades of experience in product management. I've acted as a project manager, but I have tons of experience as a project stakeholder, functional manager and product manager.

I decided to apply for PMI accreditation since I thought it would be a useful credential in my consulting business.

I started with the PM-Prepcast and watched all the lessons with an Apple TV on my home television.
I read the PMBOK once through, and reviewed some after taking tests.
I did all the questions on the PMP-Simulator. I generally scored in the 70 range (one test at 80). I kept doing learning exams on only the questions I missed.

I had 2 tests cancelled by Prometric due to weather conditions. I took advantage of the extra 3 weeks by reading cover-to-cover PMP® Exam Simplified: Updated for 2016 Exam (PMP® Exam Prep Series Book 4) by Aileen Ellis and some of Pmp Exam Prep Questions, Answers, & Explanations by Christopher Scordo. I found the Aileen Ellis book very useful, it presents the information in a different way from the PMBOK and the PM-Prepcast. There are lots of quizzes and one 200-question test (I got 77.5%).

I took the PMP exam today, I scored Proficient in all areas by Initiating and Closing (Moderately Proficient in those 2). I found the first 5 questions challenging, but the exam after that seemed a bit easier than the practice questions. I finished my first pass in 2 hours, 10 minutes, and I took another hour to review all questions. I changed about 10 answers. I felt very confident, and would have been shocked if I had failed. Fortunately, I did not!
