Just to give my experience.
I passed the PMP exam last month (March 31) with 3 P and 2 MP. I thought the exam was fair.
For study material, I used the Rita's PMP Prep, Headfirst, and PM Simulator for practice problems. Believe it or not, I didn't actually read the PMBOK guide except to look up some concepts. I also used the PM PrepCast for the education part.
Overall, it took me about 6 weeks to study for the exam which includes going through about 1,000 example exam questions. I thought the PM Simulator was on par with what I saw on the exam. Surprisingly, I didn't see any ethics (or can't remember) questions on the exam.
