My query is regarding the review question in lesson “L05-06 - Control Scope Part 2.

The question requires the pupil to select the incorrect statement from a possible 4 answers. See attached screen grab of the question in query.

The question asks which statement is incorrect regarding Control Scope. Previously in the lesson Cornelius clearly states that any variances to Scope is bad, as the Project is supposed to deliver what is required in the Scope; nothing more and nothing less and therefore Scope variance is NOT BENEFICIAL. This is also reiterated in the subsequent ‘Takeaways’ slide. However, this is oddly not the correct answer to this question.

The alleged correct answer is A, as highlighted below. Cornelius states that answer A is correct as only “unapproved” changes are referred to as Scope Creep. This is a correct statement, however, until Cornelius indicates answer A is correct (because it refers to “unapproved” changes and not approved changes) the pupil is unable to consider this factor and does not know the answer relates to “approved” changes therefore rendering answer A as an incorrect statement, which is what the question requires.

If you are talking about Changes generally, which answer A is at the time of answering (and without specifying if it is an approved or unapproved change) then the answer is 50/50. Unapproved change is called Scope Creep, which renders the answer in fact a correct statement, not incorrect.

Aside from this issue, answer D is also correct for the aforementioned reasons that no variance in Scope is beneficial as it means the PM has either over delivered Scope or under delivered Scope.

Can you please refer this to the correct body or please respond yourself if you can, as it is a trick question and doesn’t share the full nature of the question, which means the candidate cannot consider all affecting factors when answering the question.
