Based on my research, Post Mortem is a term to indicate something is dead suddenly and you want to analyze the cause of death. And for the context of PM Exam Questions, it appears to me that it indicates the project is Terminated and NOT Finished, thus you want to analyze the cause of such termination.

I hope my understanding is correct.

I have used post mortem in the past, interchangeably with Lessons Learned at the end of a project regardless of success or failure. But it is my understanding that it may actually indicate early termination of a project by PMI. Can someone clarify? I have seen nothing written by a credible source to help me with the answer. It may be in some prepcast materials (i.e. a newsletter topic), I simply do not recall. If someone could point me to the information I would be most grateful. Thanks in advance for your help.
