When I looked at exam simulator I consider two factors
(1) Can it tell me if I am ready to take the exam?
(2) How well can it help me prepare and get ready for the exam?
I did both PMIStudy Hall and Prepcast so I can talk about both, now everyone runs to PMIStudyHall as its from PMI, but here is the issue, PMIStudyhall may answer (1) but not as good mat (2). Very often I had no idea why I answered a question wrong. Where as with PrepCast it was a really good coach it was very strong on explaining the answers to questions and in fact I did PrepCast before Studyhall, yes I gold Plated. If you use an exam simulator just to know you are ready that's a very inefficient approach. If you use it as both, to grow your knowledge and also help you know you are ready, thats faster and I have to say PrepCast did this for me.

Andrew,

I suspect all of the Mods here have some bias going on to answer that question. I know that I used the "PrepCast" simulator (available here) and found it to be quite robust and mimicked the PMI exam quite closely.

If you want objective information on which to base your answer, look at the number of individual questions that are available for the simulator. The PrepCast simulator has something like 2000 questions, meaning that you'll see about 10% of the questions in any one full mock exam. That leads to less repeats when you take a full exam.

Good luck

Andrew,

This question gets asked a lot. We may be a bit biased, but most here would say the PrepCast Simulator on this website. However, sometimes positive bias comes from positive experience! I looked at a few other simulators but this one seems to be built the best. It explains to you why the answer is right or wrong in detail, so you understand the answer rather than just knowing it. The PMP is very different from most other tests I have taken. You will not be able to pass by just memorizing answers and questions.

Hello Andrew,

I would tend to agree with Markus. Of the various simulators i was able to find online, none were as robust or encompassing as PM Prepcast Exam Simulator.

I personally found it while on sale and the value speaks for itself. You have access to 4 different PMP Test Exams that can be retaken as many times as you want to prepare. You then also have a ton of quizzes that can be taken also, and modified based on number of questions asked or amount of time given. I utilized these small quizzes a ton because the Exams usually last about 2-4 hours so i could only manage to knock out at best one a week.

Prepcast was my primary testing resource throughout my prep and would definitely recommend it to any other hopeful PMS as they prepare for the exam.

For an external simulator, I keep coming back to the PM PrepCast Exam Simulator by Cornelius Fichtner.
Question quality is close to the real exam, the situational framing matches the current ECO, and the rationales actually teach you why each option is right or wrong, not just which one.

When evaluating any simulator, look for three things: question quality over quantity, alignment with the current ECO (and the July 2026 update), and detailed rationales on every option,
not just the correct answer. Recall-only simulators won't prepare you for the situational density of the real PMP.

Hi, does anyone have suggestion on what is the best PMP exam simulator?

If you have experience using one can you share me your thoughts, how does it work and how does it fair when taking the exam?
