The new outline emphasizes predictive, adaptive, and hybrid approaches. My background is mostly traditional waterfall (construction/engineering).

For those who understand the new breakdown better: how much agile/hybrid do I really need to know? Should I be investing significant time learning Scrum and agile principles, or is the exam still primarily testing through a predictive lens with some agile flavor mixed in? Trying to allocate my study time wisely.

Zandra,

Your best bet for preparation would be to use a high-quality exam simulator. I know that the one the PrepCast has mimics the PMI exam in format quite closely. Using an exam simulator will simultaneously help you:
1. Give you a very good idea of "mix" of the exam between waterfall and adaptive style questions;
2. Help you understand the language of project management <-- this was key for me
3. Give you an idea of how the questions are worded in the exam.

Good luck!

Zandra,

PMI is quite clear about this: The questions on the exam are 40% Predictive/Waterfall/Plan-driven and 60% Adaptive/Agile/Hybrid. So having a solid working knowledge of Adaptive is a must.
