@Cornelius

The original post (VERY helpful, as usual) might need an update, since the 6th Edition is end-of-life and no longer available.
The Process Guide has taken over here ...

Unfortunately, with the upcoming 8th Edition, PMI will undertake a complete rollback and revert the processes to the PMBoK Guide.

We will need to wait to see how this plays out.

Well, having said this ... maybe you'd better wait for the release of the 8th Edition and do the Update then ... ;9

Hi Amanda,

this might be helpfull:

✪ 7 Criteria for Selecting The Best PMP Exam Simulator ✪
The PMP® certification is a must-have for many project managers. It demonstrates your ability as a project manager to your current and prospective employers and can help you take the next step up the corporate ladder. That said, it is not an easy road, and preparing for the exam can be a time-consuming and stressful business.

As adults, we don’t take exams that often. Part of the nerves and stress relating to the PMP exam comes from not knowing what to expect. You can prepare for the exam by revising the material from the knowledge areas of the PMBOK® Guide, but that should not be only part of your preparation. You can also practice what the exam will be like by working through sample questions in a realistic online environment. A PMP exam simulator provides this. Sitting sample tests with an exam simulator will help you face the real exam confidently.

Here are the 7 criteria to consider when selecting the best PMP exam simulator that will suit your needs:

1. Select a trusted and experienced education provider
2. Compare the price of PMP® simulators to your budget
3. Ensure that the simulator is based on the most recent PMP® Examination Content Outline
4. Establish the content of the PMP® exam simulator
5. Check if it has a full exam mode to help you practice the PMP® exam
6. Check if it offers a learning mode to support your studies during your PMP® exam preparation
7. Establish the level of technical support that the PMP® Simulator offers

Work Through These And Be Fully Prepared

Work through these 7 criteria for every PMP® exam simulator you are considering, and you will find a product that meets your needs. Having chosen an exam simulator, you can use it to prepare for the exam fully, and you will enter the exam room knowing what to expect. Good luck!

My #1 recomendation (and it is NOT because it is from Cornelius/PMPrepCast; it is just still the best out there) is:

Amanda,

The PrepCast (here) has probably the most robust exam simulator there is. It was perhaps the best resource I had when I took the exam in 2019. It's a "don't leave home without it" resource.

Good luck!

Hi Everyone -

I agree with Cornelius, and I let my students know that when they become a PMI Member, they can download all of the publications that Cornelius mentioned. One notable aspect of PMBOK Guide history is that the PMBOK 6th Edition was organized by 'Knowledge Areas', such as Scope Management, Schedule Management, and Resource Management. When PMI revised the PMP Exam in January 2021, it discontinued the PMBOK 6th Edition and removed it from print. But fear not! :-) A new publication, 'Process Groups: A Practice Guide' replaced the 6th Edition and contains all of the content from the 6th Edition. The only difference between the two is that the 'Process Groups: a Practice Guide' publication is formatted by 'Process Groups', i.e., Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing, not by 'Knowledge Area'. Below are links to the publications that Cornelius mentioned.

PMP Examination Content Outline – January 2021 - www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/public...-content-outline.pdf

PMBOK Guide 7th Edition - www.pmi.org/standards/pmbok (Use code PMBK50PCT for 50% off paperback version when ordered through PMI - Regularly $99.99)

Process Groups: A Practice Guide - www.pmi.org/pmbok-guide-standards/practi...ups-a-practice-guide (Paperback currently $41.49 on Amazon)

Agile Practice Guide - www.pmi.org/standards/agile (Paperback currently $14.89 on Amazon)

Happy Studying! :-)
