Hey guys!

For those of you who’ve already taken the exam, what’s the BEST PMP exam simulator you’ve tried? One that actually preps you for the real deal. Also, got any some strategy tips?

Drop your recommendations (and any warnings about ones that weren’t great

Good morning, Marjoree,

That's an interesting question, and one I'm not sure you'll get a good answer to. For my PMP journey, I looked at reviews of exam exam simulators and prep courses and landed with the PrepCast material. I was very new to structured project management and found that it was like learning a second language.

So, for my PMP journey (which was 6 years ago), I have a sample size of one: Was it "the best?" I don't know, but it sure worked.

Good luck!

Hi Marjoree,

I’ve coached and prepped a lot of aspiring PMPs, and here’s the straight-up answer: The PM PrepCast Exam Simulator is the gold standard. It’s not just hype—the questions nail the real exam's tone,
complexity, and tricks better than any other tool I’ve seen. No “memorize and regurgitate” vibes here. You’ll learn to think like PMI wants you to.

Why I recommend it:

Realistic scenarios: Questions are not word-for-word like the real thing (no simulator should be!), but the logic, traps, and style are spot-on.

Coverage: It hits all domains, and you get feedback and explanations that teach you something.

Adaptive: It keeps you on your toes. No “pattern-learning,” so you can’t just game the simulator.

Strategy Tips (from someone who’s seen way too many exam horror stories):

This is a simulation of the real exam. There will be no pausing, snacks, or TikTok breaks. The exam will last four hours and require complete focus, like the big day.

Analyze your mistakes. Every. Single. One. The why matters more than the score.

Master time management. Aim for a pace of ~1 question per minute (180 questions, 230 mins).

Don’t chase 100%. 75–80% consistently in the simulator = ready.

Mix your practice. Don’t just do domain-by-domain. Go for complete, mixed tests to simulate the mental fatigue of the real thing.

Remember the mindset: It’s not about picking the “project manager hero” answer. It’s about what PMI expects—the PMI way (think collaboration, servant leadership, process, risk-awareness).

If you want more PM nerd wisdom, contact me. I'm happy to share templates, routines, or my favorite “exam day” rituals.

TL;DR: PM PrepCast. Practice like it’s real. Learn from your mistakes. Go in with a plan and confidence!

Lead with empathy. Empower with trust. Show up human every single day. Stay curious. See you out there.

BR,

Markus

PS. There will be a flash sale for the Simulator next week from Monday to Wednesday, so if you can wait, you can save a few bucks. ;)

Marjorie,

The issue with these forums is that most of us didn't go around trying all the prep courses out there.

I'm not sure which is "best", but I would say Prepcast has a good one which will help you pass the test. Ive done prep courses for other certifications, and the good simulators go into detail why your answer was right and why the other ones are wrong. This one does that. It even goes one step further and gives you which percentage chance you have of passing based on how well you're doing.

The PM Prepcat simulator is at least very good, if not the best.
