Question:
Is it possible to reports PDUs for less than 1500 hours per year? E.g. 500 hours = 5/3 PDUs or 1000 hours = 10/3 PDUs?

I have seen your answer concerning - Issue 001: PMI Gives 15 Free PDUs to Every Project Manager , see also PDU Insider. You answered : If you work as a project or program manager for at least 1,500 hours per year, then you can earn 5 PDUs for each full calendar year. What if you worked less than 1,500 hours per year as project or program manager ?

Best Regards, Peter Speck

Answer:
The explanation that you are referring to about earning PDUs for "Working as a Professional in Project Management" was back in issue No 1 of The PDU Insider. PMI has since changed the PDU categories and the requirements a bit. But the general idea is still the same: If you work as a PM you will earn PDUs.
Under the new PDU Category Structure and Guidelines this falls into Category F PDUs. The new rule is that you can earn 5 PDUs if you can show that you have worked for at least 6 out of 12 months as a project manager. If you can show this for each year in your 3 year recertification cycle, then that means you can earn 15 PDUs.
However, this is all or nothing: If you worked for 6 months in 2012, then you will earn 5 PDUs. But if you only worked for 5 months as a PM in 2013 then you will earn 0 PDUs. 6 months is the minimum and there is no pro-rating.

Please take a look at the official description for Category F PDUs on page 5 of the Policies document, which you can find here: www.pmi.org/globals/~/media/Files/PDF/Ce...Structure_Final.ashx
