Question:
What areas of study/categories are the most beneficial to me?

Answer:
I love this question because it goes right to the heart of why PMI requires credential holders to earn PDUs: If we don't continuously educate ourselves then we will remain stagnant and we will not become better project managers. But because PMI is "forcing" us to continuously earn PDUs there is a great likelihood that we will benefit from it.

However, which categories are most beneficial to you personally really depends on you:

Do you want to become a better leader? Then why not become a volunteer on the board of your local PMI Chapter? Do you want to give back to your community? Try leading a project for a nonprofit organization. Do you want to learn more about a specific methodology in project management? Go ahead and find a webinar or class where you can learn about this topic. Do you seek academic recognition? Take a masters course in project management at your local university.

Start by asking yourself where you want to grow as a project manager and then find the appropriate opportunity that allows you to reach this goal and earn PDUs at the same time.
