Hi Brian,
sorrry, I am a little bit confused, since you are asking for CAPM in the Header and then for PMP in the posting?!
The answer to your header question is clearly yes, since senior professionals (at least most often) do have the required experience for the PMP application, as you do.
The question of whether the PMP might be too foundational for your current role is quite a bit more challenging to answer, right?
First, could anything be "too" foundational?! I guess, no. I am pretty sure the PMP would be very beneficial for you and your role; however,
Thinking about leading a mobile dev team (where I assume we are talking about SW development, right), your thoughts are not wrong.
But from my experience and perspective, it is not a question of either/or but of the combination of measures to skill up.
The question is, what is your current way of working, and what does your career plan look like? Are there plans to go somewhere and in what direction, if so?
For SW Development, any agile approach might be more useful than the foundational PMP or, nowadays, the CPMAI Course/Certification.
My recommendation would be:
Outline a plan of what you want to achieve, and then take the steps.
My suggestion would be starting with the PMP and building from there ...
Please do not hesitate to reach out for any further questions.
BR,
Markus
